The Diane L. Max Health Center for Planned Parenthood Queens, completed in 2015, continues to be recognized with awards and media coverage. An April 2016 New York Times article commended the project, which CBB completed in collaboration with Stephen Yablon Architecture, for its bright, welcoming ambience. Two recent tributes have followed. In December 2016, CBB entered the project in The Architect’s Newspaper’s (A/N) Best of Design Awards 2016, winning top honors in the Interior Lighting category. Most recently, an Architectural Record editorial featured the project as a precedent for modern healthcare design. The article praises the Health Center for “…demonstrat[ing] that good design can be the best medicine,” and calls out the bold, colorful LED strip lighting as a focal element.
