The upbeat, non-institutional design of this renovated health center belies the traditional architecture of the building that houses it. The interior renovation of the 7,000 sq. ft. space has produced a state-of-the-art healthcare center with a tranquil, welcoming ambience. CBBLD’s lighting design played a vital role in the creation of this bright, reassuring environment – even on the project’s modest budget. The selection of simple, energy-efficient fixtures using only four lamp types, and the thoughtful placement of these to highlight key architectural elements, achieves the desired setting. The project is the winner of a 2010 IES Illumination Award of Merit, as well as a 2010 Healthcare Facilities Design Award from The Boston Society of Architects.
