DUKE UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL CANCER CENTER – RETAIL SHOP AND CAFÉ

Durham, NC

Duke University Medical Center’s new Cancer Center, in addition to providing research and medical treatment facilities, houses numerous healthcare support spaces on the Center’s first floor. These facilities include a café and a special retail outlet selling products designed specifically for cancer patients.

In the shop, decorative fixtures create the look of a high-end retail store, while still complying with the stringent maintenance requirements of a hospital environment. Additional accent fixtures highlight the merchandise. In the fitting room, thoughtful attention is paid to creating flattering light for patients who patronize the store.

In the café, similar lighting techniques are used. A variety of decorative fixtures make a lively design statement that is also welcoming and comfortable.
