731 LEXINGTON AVENUE / ONE BEACON COURT

New York, NY

The lighting designer’s goal was to create a distinctive and innovative presence for a new, 55-story mixed-use (office and residential) tower.

The courtyard serves as a unique entry point and gathering space. To reinforce the building’s sweeping architecture, concealed interior lighting works with layers of architectural and theatrical exterior lighting to achieve a unified composition. The glowing volume at the top has become a well-recognized feature on the city skyline. The cold cathode-sourced white lighting of the tower top was recently upgraded with color-changing LED technology, allowing a rich array of vibrant displays against the night sky. This new lighting scheme can be programmed to mark holidays and important events throughout the year.

CBB also provided interior lighting for public and amenity spaces, within both the commercial and the residential areas of the complex.
