CBB’s lighting for GSC Group’s corporate office sought to humanize its high-tech workplace with the look of an upscale boutique hotel. A major challenge was to evenly rear-illuminate an art piece, a pixilated mural of Central Park (250 feet long covering 2,200 square feet), that wraps around the core of the two-story office. In addition, the lighting design for this specialty illumination scheme keeps its wattage below the maximum energy allowance.

Through careful control of brightness relationships between key architectural and art elements, the design achieves a comfortable balance that is appropriate for office tasks yet honors the design goals of the Owner. The office is designed using only four lamp types, for ease of maintenance.
