Green lighting: CBBLD at the forefront

CBBLD Principal Stephen Bernstein was the organizer and moderator of a workshop entitled “Lighting: What’s Here; What’s Next?” at the BuildingsNY/GreenBuildingsNY Conference 2011, held at the Jacob K. Javits Center at the end of March.

In this session, Stephen led a panel of lighting industry experts, who provided attendees with: an up-to-date overview of current lamp and source technologies, including LEDs, induction lighting, daylighting, and lighting control systems a discussion of the pros and cons associated with each of these new technologies, including their contributions to green building the impact of daylighting strategies on the design of today’s buildings upcoming developments in, and the future direction of, the lighting industry. The workshop also included a case study of a recent project, to illustrate the use of new lighting sources in a time of restrictive power usage requirements.
